My Philosophy of Education
I believe that education is not the mere transference of facts and information, but a transformative process for both the learner and the teacher. I strive to foster in my students a life-long sense of curiosity that motivates them to continue learning well-beyond their school-age years or beyond the confines of the classroom, and to instill in them the critical-thinking skills that allow them to access and make sense of our complicated and vast world. Additionally, I feel strongly that social and emotional skills and strategies should be an integral part of the curriculum. To be a compassionate and well-rounded human and member of society, we must all carry with us the tools to interact kindly with our peers, share, collaborate, and communicate. I believe these abilities serve to enhance academics and the lives of my students.
